Homophobic President of Brazil Reportedly Tested Positive for COVID-19
He had dinner with Trump last week.
The ultra-homophobic right-wing president of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro, has reportedly tested positive for COVID-19 shortly after his press secretary, Fabio Wajngarten, also tested positive for the virus.
Bolsonaro, who was elected president of Brazil in 2018, previously downplayed the severity of coronavirus, saying that “other flus kill more” and dismissing the whole thing as a “fantasy” that “is not all the mainstream media makes it out to be.”
The Brazilian president is also well-known for his outspokenness against the LGBTQ community. He has previously said he would rather his son be dead than gay, and famously got into it with Ellen Page over her sexuality on her show Gaycation.
While many outlets are reporting confirmation that Bolsonaro has tested positive for COVID-19, his son has taken to Twitter to slam those reports, claiming that the tests are incomplete, despite a report from Fox News saying he confirmed his father's initial positive diagnosis.

Both Jair Bolsonaro and Wajngarten interacted with President Trump and Vice President Pence at Mar-a-Lago last week, despite White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham predictably providing information to the contrary.
“Both the President and Vice President had almost no interactions with the individual who tested positive and do not require being tested at this time,” she said.
Grisham also claimed that Trump and Pence don’t need to be tested for infection despite this obvious close proximity to an infected person. It’s unclear if that train of thought will continue now that Bolsonaro has, quite possibly, tested positive.
