11 Reasons We Want to Hang Out With Team USA's Megan Rapinoe

She's seriously #EverythingGoals.

In a word, Team USA's Megan Rapinoe is the coolest. According to LGBT History Month, the native Californian and professional soccer came out in 2012, just two weeks before she was to play for the women’s soccer team in the London Olympics. Like, wow. She's brave, she's super talented, she's willing to take risks, and she could teach us a lot about everything from how to be a better advocate to how to be a better friend.

1. Her rad music skills.

Teach us, please.

2. She’s outspoken about the importance of normalizing queerness.

“I’d like to help create more tolerance and acceptance across the board,” Rapinoe says. "That means more people talking about it, more people coming out and, at the end of the day, making less of a massive deal about being gay. I’d like to see homosexuality become something that’s just normal to everyone.”

Hell yes.

3. The time she totally pumped us up with this Insta.

Even if you hate everything sports, it's impossible not to be pumped up by this cheer.

4. This entire GIF.

LOVE HER.

5. Basically, whenever she talks about being queer.

“I feel like sports, in general, are still homophobic in the sense that not a lot of people are out,” she said. “I feel everyone is really craving [for] people to come out. People want—they need—to see that there are people like me playing soccer for the good ol’ U.S. of A.”

Here's to representation.

6. Every time she’s seriously so adorable.[iframe https://giphy.com/embed/wrd0M20DK2eZi allowfullscreen="" class=^{{"giphy-embed"}}^ frameborder="0" height="296" width="480"]

So. Cute.

7. Her killer sense of humor.

We could take excellent snaps together.

8. Her commitment to being an advocate.

On her website, Rapinoe has an entire section dedicated to advocacy. "My career thus far as a footballer is literally a dream that has come true. As a kid growing up in Redding, California, this beautiful game has led me around the globe and into the path of so many wonderful people. Certainly, I have worked hard and earned these opportunities but I also believe I am lucky to be living my dream in an environment that embraces and celebrates who I am as a female athlete, a gay female athlete."

Lucky and privileged to be given the platform and the opportunity to speak out on issues of equality and human rights. I have had the opportunity to work with organizations such as HRC, LA Gay and Lesbian Center, GLSEN, and iACT and be a part of their mission of equality for all people."

9. Her continued gratitude for her loving fans.

We love you too, Rapinoe.

10. Her occasional sass.

We love a good snarky side.

11. Her feminism.
