Ariana Grande Returns To Drag Race As A Celebrity Guest Judge
She’s headed back to the main stage for the season 15 two-part premiere.
God is a woman — and a celebrity guest judge on RuPaul’s Drag Race season 15.
Today MTV announced that Ariana Grande will be headed to the main stage for the upcoming season’s two-part premiere on January 6.
She’ll be sitting alongside Michelle Visage and Ross Mathews — and of course Mama Ru herself — as they greet 15 new queens. The new cast will really have to work hard to wow the panel and stand out because it’s the largest cast in herstory and the ultimate title of “America’s Next Drag Superstar.” Oh, and a little cash prize of$200,000, the largest in Drag Race history!
Drag Race season 15 will be the first to premiere on its new home MTV. It will be a two-part special, the first will be commercial-free, while the second episode will have limited commercial interruption. This just means more time for the queens to show off all that charisma, uniqueness, nerve, and talent!
This won’t be the first time Grande has had the honor of judging the queens: she made her debut on the panel in season 7 episode 6, “RuPaullywood Stories.” And she holds a very special record with the franchise as well, as the artist with the most songs used as lip-syncs. She broke the record in season 13 when Symone and Utica faced off to “No Tears Left to Cry.” Previously, her songs had been featured in seasons 7, 9, 10, 12, 13, All Stars 4, and All Stars 5.
Grande has long been a fan of the series and was thrilled by this result. “This is the greatest honor of all time I am so happy and thankful RuPaul no understands what this means to me,” Grande wrote to Instagram stories.
