Oklahoma Lesbian Attacked, Victim Claims Attempted Murder

A lesbian in Oklahoma was brutally attacked this week in what she says was an attempted murder, reports LGBTQ Nation.

Kayla Elliott, 29, has been caring for her sick father in the Oklahoma City suburb of Midwest City. She says Camino Nicole Maxwell, a woman who resides in the apartment above her father’s, has been verbally harassing her with gay slurs for months.

Tuesday evening, Elliott says, Maxwell initiated a fight by calling her a “dumb dyke,” threatening to “jack up you and your dad,” and eventually swinging at her. After Elliot returned to her father’s apartment and waited for Maxwell to leave, she went back out to retrieve a necklace she lost during the fight.

Before she made it back, she says, Maxwell came at her with a knife, screaming “I’m gonna kill you,” and “I’ll make you straight.” Elliott suffered a head wound requiring 18 stitches, and defensive wounds to both hands.

Maxwell was arrested at the scene and held on $5,000 bond for probable cause of assault with a deadly weapon. Elliott is petitioning the District Attorney’s office to elevate Maxwell’s charge to attempted murder.
