I don’t know if the LGBT community will be over Adam Rippon and Gus Kenworthy’s friendship. To be honest, I hope we never are, because the friendship between the two out Olympians is not only adorable, but also inspiring. Seeing two members of the gay community live their lives authentically while simultaneously speaking out against discrimination against LGBTQ people in America is what 2018 (and millennials) are all about.

Outsports just proved once again that queer stories belong everywhere--even on the biggest stage in television.
The long-running LGBTQ+ sports publication took home an Emmy Award for its original short-form docuseries Ballin’ Out, which follows several out players and coaches from the USA Women’s Wheelchair Basketball Team as they prepared for the 2023 World Championships in Dubai. The series, directed by Michiel Thomas (Game Face), won for Outstanding Short Form Program, marking a first-of-its-kind win for the site.

Olympian and two-time World Cup champion Christen Press broke lesbian sports fans’ hearts on Wednesday by announcing she’s set to retire at the end of the 2025 National Women’s Soccer League season.
Press, who has been playing for Angel City FC since 2021, will be honored by her team on Sunday at BMO Field in Los Angeles.

Being taken seriously in women’s sports is already a steep hill to climb, but even though this has been the most successful WNBA season of all time, it has been plagued by misogyny. 
Earlier this season, men in the stands started disrupting games by throwing dildos on the court, players have been pitted against each other by the media, and now men are betting on the WNBA based on menstrual cycle predictions. Yes, you read that correctly. Male fans are placing bets based on their predictions for what phase of their menstrual cycles different players are in.
