Perennial lesbian fave and Oscar nominee Diane Lane has signed on to play the matriarch of the Santa Barbara based Loud family in an HBO scripted film about the family that ushered in the age of reality television. The 1973 benchmark PBS series An American Family, happened to feature America's first gay character, the Loud's eldest son Lance Loud.
