Emily Rios' Lesbian Character on The Bridge Upped to Series Regular
Here's to more lesbians on TV!
We’re of the firm belief that you can never have too many lesbians on TV, which is why we’re excited about the news that Emily Rios, who plays a lesbian reporter on FX’s The Bridge, has been upped to series regular for the show’s second season, according to Deadline.
Rios, who starred in 2006’s gay-themed festival hit Quinceañera, plays Adriana, a reporter for the El Paso Times in FX’s series about a serial killer who murders people on both sides of the border of Mexico and the United States. Adriana and Matthew Lillard’s reporter Daniel cover the case that detectives played by Diane Kruger and Demien Bechir investigate. Adriana came out quietly in the series' third episode by simply telling a coworker she wasn't interested in dating men, according to AfterEllen.
This is not Rios’ first time at the lesbian rodeo however, as she played gay in a recurring role on Men of Certain Age. Still, audiences may best recognize Rios from her role as Jesse Pinkman’s girlfriend Andrea on Breaking Bad.
