On Feb. 22, Disney XD's animated series Star vs. the Forces of Evil aired an episode featuring a same-sex kiss during a casual pan of a scene in which Star, the show's titular character, has to process her friend Marco being in a relationship with another girl.
The fleeting moment says quite a bit by hardly saying anything at all. Among the many messages, the most important of all being: You belong here.

What can we say—we’re just suckers for a supernatural sapphic. Like period pieces and coming-of-age stories, there can never be too many shows that follow a lesbian or bi character in a magical or fantasy setting.
So if, like us, you can’t get enough of this stuff, we’ve made a list of must-see supernatural shows featuring queer women in prominent and lead roles. These aren’t sci-fi or superhero shows, but strictly ones that take place in worlds of magic, wonder, and mythical creatures.

Over the holidays, Stranger Things dropped its last batch of episodes before the big series finale, and in the penultimate episode, Will Byers finally did the thing queer fans have been waiting literal years for: He came out.
As the Hawkins crew was amassing in preparation for one last big battle against their Upside Down foe, Vecna, Will came to the realization that in order for him to finally be able to face the show’s big bad, he needed to be honest with his friends and come out. So, with his friends and chosen family around him, Will finally—in an impassioned monologue, with hopeful tears racing down his face—faced his greatest fear and told them he is gay.

Fans have been waiting for months to see how the Heated Rivalry show would stack up against the books, and good news: it’s an extremely faithful adaptation that doesn’t shy away from the intense yearning, intimacy, and extremely hot and explicit gay sex between the two main characters.
The rivals-to-lovers story follows a years-long romance between closeted gay Canadian player Shane Hollander (Hudson Williams) and closeted bisexual Russian hockey star Ilya Rozanov (Connor Storrie). The two men first meet when they are gearing up for their rookie year, and they have instant chemistry that translates into years of secret trysts and repressed desire before they start falling for each other.

Heated Rivalry has been making headlines since the first episode premiered, with critics and fans alike focusing on the intense sex scenes and wild things the stars have said in the press, but since then, the show has proven week after week that there is more to it than meets the eye.
The show was built on a foundation of yearning, rising sexual tension, and profoundly moving and erotic sex scenes. And yet after four episodes, director Jacob Tierney left the steamy moments on the cutting room floor and focused on telling an emotionally poignant, and at times devastatingly real, story. And as if in answer to every critic who wrote it off as fodder for horny wine moms, not only was episode 5 the highest-rated episode of Heated Rivarly, but it scored a perfect 10/10 on IMDB, a feat not accomplished since Breaking Bad’s beloved Ozymandias episode 12 years earlier.
