A deliciously messy period drama filled to the brim with characters of color that takes place in Regency-era England's elite social scene and narrated Gossip Girl style by Oscar-winning screen icon Julie Andrews?!?! SAY LESS. We are SO in!!!

TV legend and Grey's Anatomy mastermind Shonda Rhimes is making her triumphant move to Netflix with the new series Bridgerton! Created by Shondaland's Chris Van Dusen and based on the novel series of the same name from author Julia Quinn, the show is diverse AF and features a huge cast of people of color, something that is refreshing to see in a period piece. The teaser trailer, which was released over the past weekend, also teases a steamy queer love scene, so you already know we will be instantly hooked on the series since it's set to feature queer characters and storylines!

And considering all the chaos that's going on in the world, Bridgerton is the perfect form of escapism that we need right now!

"Inspired by the bestselling novels, the series follows Daphne Bridgerton, the eldest daughter of the powerful Bridgerton family as she makes her debut onto Regency London’s competitive marriage market," the series' official description reads. "As her pursuit of love unravels, the high society scandal sheet written by the mysterious Lady Whistledown casts criticisms on Daphne who has caught the eye of London's most desirable duke..."

Bridgerton drops December 20 on Netflix!
