Lil Nas X's Duet With Elmo Is Our Queer Childhood Dream Come True

The gay "Old Town Road" star broke new barriers in children's entertainment.
Lil Nas X knows how to get to Sesame Street.
The gay country-rap star appeared on the first episode of The Not-Too-Late Show With Elmo, a Sesame Street spinoff on HBO Max that spoofs late-night talk shows.
On it, Lil Nas X puts his own spin on a Sesame Street classic, "Elmo's Song," while decked out in a shimmering orange scales, zippers, and leather straps.
Puppets provided backup to the duet with the furry red host, who turned the tables and sang "Lil Nas X's Song." It's a sight we only wish we had when we were gaybies.
If that wasn't gay enough, Kacey Musgraves, the "Rainbow" singer and LGBTQ+ ally, also showed up as a musical guest on Elmo to perform an acoustic version of "Rubber Ducky," with bubbles blowing in the background.
