Here's All the Queer Stuff on Netflix to Stream This Month
So what's the gay stuff worth streaming on Netflix this month??
Since the world is still currently a perpetual dumpster fire, and most of us are doing our part to stay indoors and be safe and healthy, there's literally nothing better to do than just sit back, relax, and catch up on some of the best (and most queer-inclusive!) films and series that Netflix has to offer...
Here's what we're looking forward to binge-watching this month!
The Umbrella Academy, Season 2 (July 31)
Okay, okay, the highly-anticipated second season of the hit superhero series technically came out on the last day of July, but in fairness, we'll be fangirling over Klaus' (Robert Sheehan) return and seeing Vanya (lesbian icon Ellen Page) explore her queerness all month long!
Almost Love (August 2)
Love is filled with drama, has its ups and downs, and can be extremely hard to navigate. Basically, it's messy AF, and Almost Love, the queer-centered rom-com from writer and director Mike Doyle starring Scott Evans (Grace & Frankie) and Augustus Prew (Special) captures all of that mess perfectly.
Work It (August 7)
A new, inclusive dance comedy for this generation is making its way to Netflix this month, and besides all of the fierce choreo and the callbacks to other iconic dance faves from the '00s like Step Up and You Got Served, we also get to see out Love, Simon star Keiynan Lonsdale serve up some serious shade in the role of the Thunderbirds dance captain!
The Legend of Korra (August 14)
The sequel series to the critically-acclaimed Avatar: The Last Airbender is FINALLY making its way to the streaming giant this month!!
Focusing on the story of Aang's successor Korra, TLOK made headlines back in 2014 after the series ended with the revelation that Korra and her best girlfriend Asami were a thing, making them both instant bisexual icons. (Korra and Asami have had flings with men in the past.) Though it wasn't perfect by any means (the big, queer reveal was literally the last minute of the very last episode), many LGBTQ+ Avatar fans still appreciated the small amount of representation they got, and the series has had a queer cult following ever since.
Lucifer, Season 5 (August 21)
Our sexy AF bi king is back for a fifth season! And after some uncertainty, he will also be back for one more round in season 6 of the hit supernatural, urban fantasy series!
