Netflix has axed a couple more of our favorite shows.
I Am Not Okay With This and The Society, two LGBTQ-inclusive YA series that have garnered critical acclaim and fans around the world, have officially been canceled, Variety reports.
I Am Not Okay With This features Sydney, an angsty teen girl whose father recently died, who struggles to acclimate back into her "normal" life, which is further derailed when she discovers she has telekinetic superpowers — and feelings for her best friend. The Society followed a group of teens who return from a field trip and realize that everyone in their town has disappeared. The apocalyptic drama featured a celebrated relationship between two boys named Sam and Grizz, one of whom was deaf and played by deaf actor Sean Berdy.
Fans were disappointed to learn both shows have been scrapped. IANOWT hadn't been officially given a second season though they were working on season 2 scripts. The Society had already been greenlit for Season 2.
According to Variety, Netflix canceled the shows due to scheduling conflicts caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as safety and budget concerns.
