After a nearly two-year-long wait, FX's groundbreaking, ballroom-themed TV series Pose is coming back for one last final season!

Screenwriter Steven Canals, who co-created the series with TV legends Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, took to Twitter Friday morning to share the news that Pose is making its epic comeback for a third and final season on Sunday, May 2.

"Hey Pose fam! We made the decision to end @PoseOnFX after 3 seasons because we reached the intended ending of our story," Canals wrote on Twitter, alongside a heartfelt statement about the creation of the Emmy-nominated show that centered around a close, tight-knit, found family of queer and trans people of color living in New York City during the early days of the HIV/AIDS epidemic of the '80s and '90s. "This experience has been life-changing. THANK YOU is too small a word. And yet, it’s what is in my heart. Hope to see you May 2nd when we debut."

As expected, so many people online got emotional from the news and reacted online, including some of the show's cast.

"Saying goodbye to Pose is one of the hardest things I gotta do..." actor Angel Curiel (who plays Lil Papi) said on Twitter.

"Pose gave me a massive opportunity & changed my life," Johnny Sibilly, who played Pray Tell's boyfriend Costas, said. "It’s changed many lives & conversations. Sad to see it end but happy it’s shifted the queer & television landscape. I’ll be tuning in for the final dip. You should too."

While we're super sad that the show is ending, we're glad that such an important story and perspective got told and had such an impact on so many lives and viewers all over the world! Pose will ALWAYS have a special place in many LGBTQ+ TV fans' hearts!

Pose season 3 starts airing on FX on Sunday, May 2! Seasons 1 and 2 of the series are currently streaming on Netflix!
