After the heart-stopping season finale of Euphoria last night, fans are already itching for the next installment in the popular teen drama. But it might take some time for that to happen.

While the show was renewed for a third season by HBO earlier this month, Zendaya’s ever-rising star is one of the reasons fans think another season won’t arrive until at least 2024.

The actress is slated to film Dune 2 and Challengers this year, leaving her little time to head back East Highland High School anytime soon.

Lending more credibility to the theory is that Zendaya liked a tweet reading “tomorrow is really the last episode of euphoria until 2024 huh,” sending fans into a frenzy.

Of course, the pandemic could keep causing problems as well. Like many TV shows, season two of Euphoria was originally delayed due to COVID, with production halting just days into filming back in 2020.

When it finally dropped, but the measly eight episodes of season two bombarded fans with a rollercoaster of emotional destruction against the characters they hate to love and love to hate, from Rue’s relapse to Lexi’s play to just everything going on with Cassie.

To have to wait another two years to see where things go next is far too tragic, and fans are already freaking out.

On the bright side, we may end up getting some content in between, since the show already has a history of offering up little stories to tide fans over. But it’s still looking to be a long wait, all the same.
