The power of social media prevails! Since April 10th, Time.com has been holding a reader poll to determine the 100 Most Influential People in the World. It's certainly a diverse list, including - to name just a small selection - Beyonce, Jenji Kohan, RuPaul, Megan Ellison, Harry Styles, Malala Yousafzai, Miley Cyrus, Vladmir Putin, Lorde, Lupita Nyong'o, and the people who write the music in Frozen (who are listed above Barack Obama, mind you).

It's a congregation of the biggest names in the social, political, cultural, sports, business, and entertainment worlds today, and Laverne Cox has outranked them all. Even, better, Laverne Cox has taken the top spot from previous #1 Justin Bieber, who is currently in fourth slot and somehow also has more votes against his success. Sure, the lovely but not incredibly globe-defining Katy Perry is at #2, so this poll isn't exactly the hard-and-fast demonstration of influence, but isn't it nice to see the legitimately inspirational, talented, and absolutely gorgeous in every way Laverne Cox leading the group? She's taken to Twitter to encourage voting amongst her fans, and it's still not too vote Laverne yourself! Time's poll will be open until 11:59 pm on April 22nd, and although the Time Editors will ultimately set the list, the reader's input is certainly taken into consideration.
