Mia Kirshner Joins Julie Benz SyFy Starrer Defiance - Most Lesbian Adjacent Cast Ever?

With the recently announced addition of The L Word’s Mia Kirshner to the cast of SyFy’s new drama Defiance, the show is unofficially vying for most lesbian-adjacent television program ever as Julie Benz, who played lesbian on Desperate Housewives, headlines a cast that includes her Dexter pal Jamie Murray, who just had a lesbian tryst on Ringer.

With the recently announced addition of The L Word’s Mia Kirshner to the cast of SyFy’s new drama Defiance, the show is unofficially vying for most lesbian-adjacent television program ever as Julie Benz, who played lesbian on Desperate Housewives, headlines a cast that includes her Dexter pal, Jamie Murray, who just had a lesbian tryst on Ringer.

Kirshner, who towed the line as the often infuriating Jenny Schecter on The L Word  for six seasons and who recently starred on The Vampire Diaries, will play Kenya, “the self-assured, dauntless town madam whose unvarying deotion to the town of Defiance has inexorably woven her into many of its complicated affairs,” Deadline reports.

The futuristic series is set in a world  ravaged by war  in which humans, aliens live together. Benz stars opposite Grant Bowler and plays Amanda Rosewater, the newly appointed mayor of Defiance, who is determined to keep the peace, Deadline reported in March.

The cast also includes Brotherhood’s Fionnula Flanagan and Stephanie Leonidas. Murray plays a member of an elite alien race while Leonidas plays a “beautiful warrior” alien, according to Deadline.
