WATCH: Megan Rapinoe and Seattle Reign Come Out for 'You Can Play'

Star Seattle Reign FC midfielder Megan Rapinoe, who made headlines for coming out just prior to the Summer Olympic Games in London last year, is the latest voice for the You Can Play project, joining teammates and coaches in a video advocating openness and equality in sports. The video features Rapinoe and teammates, as well as head coach Laura Harvey and top assistant coach Sam Laity, preaching You Can Play's message of anti-discrimination on the court, the field, or in this case, the pitch.

You Can Play advocates work ethic, skill and competition as the sole guidelines for judging athletes at every level.  The website features videos from athletes across the country, gay and straight allies, on the collegiate and professional level, voicing support for LGBTQ athletes.  With their video, the Reign became the first professional women's team to partner with You Can Play.  In an effort to fight homophobia, the team will provide fan outreach, player and staff education, and media support for the organization. Reign FC midfielder Jess Fishlock, who is also in the video and who tweeted this adorable photo during gay pride this year, said of the project, "I am excited that we are partnering with You Can Play and helping them take the steps that are needed to eradicate homophobia in professional sports.  It's something I support 100% and I am honored to play for the first professional women's team aligned with this cause."
Reign FC will visit the Washington Spirit for their next match this Saturday.
