Infamous Christian Bakers Send Cakes to LGBT Organizations

Melissa and Aaron Klein, Oregon bakers who got into hot water for refusing to make a cake for a lesbian wedding, want to prove they don't hate gay people.

The couple sent cakes, plus a movie about Christianity and gay issues, to 10 queer organizations — including the LGBT centers in Los Angeles and Las Vegas, and the Asian and Pacific Islander Wellness Center.

The cakes, decorated with hearts, were an act of goodwill and carried the message, "We do really love you."

A note with the cakes reads, "Hello, we are Aaron and Melissa Klein. We're the bakers who declined to create a cake for a same-sex wedding and were ordered to pay $135,000. We want you to know that our actions were not motivated by hatred, and we personally baked this cake as a small token of our love."

The Kleins also included a DVD of Audacity, a film from New Zealand evangelist Ray Comfort that "tackles the issues of Christianity and homosexuality," according to Christian Today. 

In speaking to the publication, Comfort made a clumsy comparison: "Would [Klein's critics] bake a cake for a wedding where lion meat would be served at the reception?"
