We've all heard the phrase "pray the gay away," but what about "get-held-in-a-camp-against-my-will-and-forced-to-do-labor-and-get-Bible-therapy the gay away"?
Yikes.
Unfortunately, that's exactly what's happened to Supergirl star Jeremy Jordan's 17-year-old cousin, Sarah.
Jordan and his supportive family have set up a GoFundMe account to raise money for the legal fees necessary to hire a lawyer to get Sarah out of the Texas-based facility. Sarah was sent to the camp after her parents found out she was going to prom with her girlfriend.
“My amazing friends & fans, PLEASE help us save my sweet gay cousin Sarah who's trapped at a boarding facility in TX. https://t.co/mtVHMY1fdI”— Jeremy Jordan (@Jeremy Jordan) 1465076343
It's a terrible and unfortunate situation. The fund has received more than $40,000 so far, with contributions from fans, concerned family and other celebrities (like Colton Haynes, who recently publicly came out).
“This absolutely breaks my heart. Pls help Jeremy Jordan's cousin be her true self. #FreeSarah . Join me & donate. https://t.co/Iroz5nN8W4”— Colton Haynes (@Colton Haynes) 1465249480
