Shining a light on a demographic of the LGBT community who’ve endured less tolerant times filmmakers and partners Beatrice Alda and Jennifer Brooke’s 2008 documentary Out Late focuses a segment of the community who, for a myriad of reasons, the least of which was nearly inevitable persecution, came out after the age of 55. The award-winning doc drops on DVD on Oct. 25 via First Run Features.

Alda (actor Alan Alda’s daughter) and Brooke culled an array of  stories from five older LGBT people from the silent generation who came out later in life, asking the questions, why did they wait until their 50’s, 60’s, or 70’s to come out? And what was the turning point that caused each of them to openly declare their sexuality?

Out Late was named best documentary at the Long Island Film Expo and at Cinhomo in Spain.
