Rosie O'Donnell Discusses Falling in Love at Starbucks and Her Busted Gaydar on Nightline: VIDEO

Comedian and talk show host Rosie O’Donnell has been making the rounds promoting her new show, which airs on the Oprah Winfrey Network Monday, and with each media outlet she inevitably answers questions about the new love of her life, their chance meeting at a Starbucks and Rosie’s busted gaydar. Rosie told the story of how she spotted Michelle holding a puppy in a Starbucks. The Emmy winner said she’d been looking to get a new puppy for her daughter Chelsea, so she began to talk to Michelle about the puppy she was holding. Now, if that isn’t the oldest trick in the lesbian playbook –chat the hot girl up over a puppy!

Most recently Rosie stopped by Nightline to promote her show, but she also talked about her new girlfriend Michelle Rounds, who’s a corporate headhunter for an IT company in NY.

But Rosie swears she had no idea Michelle was a lesbian and that she likely would have been intimidated had she known.

“I thought she was a 28-year-old heterosexual girl because that’s what she looked like to me,” Rosie said. “And she’s a 40-year-old gay woman.”

“So much for your instincts,” joked Nightline co-anchor Cynthia McFadden.

“My gaydar was way off,” Rosie laughed. “But I think if I’d known she was gay I wouldn’t have been brave enough to talk to her.”

Here’s Rosie in her own words:
