The trailer is out for The Hunger Games, and Oscar nominee for Winter’s Bone, Jennifer Lawrence looks like the next great kick-ass heroine.

Based on Suzanne Collins’ young adult science fiction trilogy that features 16-year-old Katniss Everdeen in a dystopian future where, each year, a girl and a boy between the ages of 12 and 18 are picked from a lottery to compete in a televised battle to the death.

Lawrence plays Katniss in the film written by Collins and Gary Ross and directed by Ross (Pleasantville, Seabiscuit).

The movie also stars The Kids Are All Right’s Josh Hutcherson, Elizabeth Banks, Stanley Tucci, Toby Jones, Lenny Kravitz and Donald Sutherland.

Without further ado, here’s The Hunger Games trailer:
