On tonight’s episode of Savage U, Dan Savage spends time with Aleksandra, a University of Central Florida student who came out as lesbian three years ago, but recently has started thinking about guys.
Aleksandra says she is confused and scared, mostly because she came to UCF because it has such a highly visible LGBT community and she doesn’t know what this recent attraction to men means.
“I don’t know how to sort it out,” she says. “I’m out at school, and I came to UCF knowing that there was a huge gay community, being involved with EQUAL, which is the LGBT organization.”
Savage advises her to “stop on the ‘B’ for a second. There’s a ‘B’ in LGBT for a reason.”
In the months since meeting with Savage, Aleksandra has found a girlfriend and is really happy. She says her talk with Savage reminded her “that this is my life, and I don't need to live it for anyone else.”
