Paget Brewster to Guest Star on SVU Season Premiere Opposite Criminal Minds

The hot quotient just got upped on Law and Order: SVU (as if that were possible) with the announcement that Paget Brewster, the woman who played SSA Emily Prentiss on Criminal Minds for several seasons, will guest star on the two-hour SVU season premiere that airs on Sept. 26, opposite Criminal Minds.

The hot quotient just got upped on Law and Order: SVU (as if that were possible) with the announcement that Paget Brewster, the woman who played SSA Emily Prentiss on Criminal Minds for several seasons, will guest star on the two-hour SVU season premiere that airs on Sept. 26, opposite Criminal Minds, according to The Wrap.

Brewster will play the head of the DA’s Public Integrity Unit handling the case against the Special Victims Unit’s Captain Cragen (Dann Florek), who woke up in the season finale next to the body of a murdered woman. Here’s hoping Brewster’s character is forced to work intimately with Mariska Hargitay’s gold standard of TV detectives and Kelli Giddish’s Det. Amanda Rollins to get to the bottom of the case.

A regular on CBS’s hit crime series Criminal Minds since the show’s second season, Brewster was unceremoniously let go during the seventh season when producers also fired another female cast, AJ Cook, who plays JJ. Following a campaign that out actress and Criminal Minds favorite Kirsten Vangsness -- who plays Penelope Garcia – spearheaded, Brewster and Cook were asked to return. Last season Brewster left of her own volition to pursue other projects.

A television veteran Brewster guest starred on Friends in the mid-nineties as the woman who dated both Joey and Chandler. She also had a starring role in Showtime’s short-lived but excellent Huff. Brewster guest starred on SVU during the show’s eighth season.

If it weren’t enough that Brewster will appear on the premiere, Broadway darling Laura Benanti will be back as Det. Nick Amaro’s (Danny Pino) soldier wife as will Brooke Smith (Erica Hahn on Grey’s Anatomy) as New York City’s most ruthless madam.

With Brewster's character working with the DA's office fingers crossed there's room for a recurring role.

For those of you unfamiliar with Brewster's work here is a totally unrelated video of her making out with a woman on an episode of Huff.
