Singer / songwriter Lucy Spraggan wowed the UK X Factor’s audience and judges over the weekend when she auditioned with a clever ditty she wrote about boozing called “Last Night,” Towleroad reported.

The 20-year-old out performer from Sheffield, England was overcome with emotion as the audience leapt to its feet in applause and the judges showered her with praise. In the end she was voted through

Spraggan, who came out at 14, later told The Mirror that her mom loves that she’s gay. “My mum loves gay people, she thinks she’s part of the cool club now,” Spraggan said.

It would appear that Spraggan is hoping to build a fan base of sorts with her appearance on the show. “X Factor must do wonders for your love life. Girls do love girls with guitars,” Spraggan said.

No stranger to playing small venues and coffee shops Spraggan’s been playing out for some time. Check out Spraggan's website.
