The Real L Word’s Lauren Bedford Russell, 31, was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis last summer and the reality star and fine jewelry designer has plans to bring more awareness to the disease, she told RadarOnline in an exclusive interview.
In the interview Russell confirmed that she periodically suffers from optic neuritis, the loss of vision in one eye, and that she’s fully committed to working with the National MS Society to educate the public about the warning signs and how to cope with the disease.
Russell has designed a special “Positivity Bracelet,” which will be sold as part of her Lyon Fine Jewelry line, with 15 percent of the proceeds going to the National MS Society, she said.
“By publicly coming out about my recent MS diagnosis and becoming a fervent spokesperson for Multiple Sclerosis, I hope to turn my personal fight into public awareness to educate people about the warning signs, raise funds for more research and overall inspire positive change towards the disease, ” Russell said.
She’s been managing her symptoms with daily injections of Copaxone.
Russell made her TV debut on the lesbian-themed reality show last season.
