America voted adorable, self-confessed nerd Michelle Chamuel through to the next live round on Tuesday’s live eliminations on The Voice, which means there is one openly gay contestant in the top 10.
During one of those excruciating hours of TV in which it takes a full 59 minutes and 34 seconds to reveal the elimination, Chamuel, part of team Usher, handily made it through to the next round after singing Robyn’s “Call Your Girlfriend” during a heat wave in the studio the night before.
Since Chamuel turned chairs during the blind auditions the Ann-Arbor based lead singer of Ella Riot has belted out stirring renditions of “I Kissed a Girl,” “Raise Your Glass,” “Titanium” and “True Colors.” Coach Usher has embraced Chamuel’s geek chic and her feelings of being different, something she spoke to prior to discovering she would move on to the Top 10.
Check out Chamuel’s energized “Call Your Girlfriend,” although we are pretty sure the sound person was asleep at the wheel during the performance as it was harder to hear her than some of the other performances.
