Sharon and Eli first connected as mutual fans of Lady Gaga's music and Twitter feed. And although thousands of miles separated the two women, who lived in New York and Peru, respectively, their love was too strong to be constrained by national borders.
When Eli's U.S. visa was denied, Sharon quit her job the next day, packed four suitcases, and hopped a flight to Peru, determined to bring her love back with her, according to Barbara Ann Michaels, the officiant at the couple's vibrant, rainbow-themed wedding in Central Park. According to her website, Michaels, a self-described "Jester of the Peace," specializes in creative wedding planning for the extraordinary couple.
