As San Diego winds down from its annual geek-fest (said lovingly) known as Comic-Con 2013, we're snatching up all the queer tidbits trickling out of the international event.

One of the things we're most excited about arose from a panel featuring Matt Groening, the creator of the iconic, 25-year-old animated series The Simpsons, and the cult-favorite Futurama. At a panel featuring Groening and fellow Simpsons writers, the creator revealed that the long-awaited crossover between The Simpsons and Futurama will finally happen. The casts will record the episode in August, getting the episode ready to debut as the finale to Season 25, or perhaps the opening to Season 26, according to entertainment blog Zap2It.

That's great news for fans of either show, but we're most jazzed about the roster of guest stars The Simpsons will meet in its upcoming season. Sure, the scheduled stars include comedians Zach Galifianakis and Kristen Wiig, as well Emmy-nominated Mad Men actor Elisabeth Moss.

But, here's the real kicker: Season 25 will also feature a guest appearance from out MSNBC anchor Rachel Maddow. We don't have additional details on how Maddow's animated character will work her way into Springfield, but we sure as hell hope she'll school Homer on his bumbling, borderline-bigoted ways. Maybe Maddow can be the proof that not all lesbians exist solely for the fantasy of straight men. Or maybe Maddow will help lead Marge down the same sapphic path as Marge's lesbian sisters?

How do you want to see Maddow get animated? Let us know in the comments below.
