Rounding out the cast in supporting roles are Roxanne McKee (Hollyoaks), Emun Elliott (Paradox, Blackwatch), Heather Peace (The Chase, Blue Murder) and James Anthony Pearson (New Town Killers).

Lip Service writer Harriet Braun says the series is aimed at being a "sexy, funny and irreverent drama that reflects what it is to be a young gay woman living in Britain today." Braun says she "loved The L Word" but believes it's time British lesbians had their own representation on television, "with all the bad weather, trips to the pub and repressed emotions that go with that."

"Harriet's scripts are very much authored pieces and, as such, the series takes a very vivid and authentic look at the lives and loves of modern British gay women on the cusp of life," Anne Mensah,  head of BBC drama, said in a press statement. "The quality of the cast that the scripts have brought to the table really speaks for itself and Lip Service promises to be an emotionally-charged and utterly enjoyable drama series."

"All of these characters are very close to my heart," Braun said of the show, "so to have found such a great cast who bring them to life so fantastically is very exciting."
