Cybill Shepherd gracefully walked the red carpet at the 2010 GLAAD Media Awards in San Francisco on Saturday, June 5, 2010. She was accompanied by her two daughters - Clementine Ford (The Young and the Restless and The L Word) and Ariel Shepherd-Oppenheim (Yale University graduate). Shepherd was being honored with the Golden Gate Award for her work and advocacy within the LGBT community. The Golden Gate Award is presented to individuals who have increased the visibility and understanding of the LGBT community in the media.
Reporters did a double-take when Shepherd's two daughters joined her on the red carpet with their respective girlfriends in tow. Clementine's date was none other than 4 Non Blondes singer Linda Perry. Perry was noticably less-interested in the press, but posed for photos and took questions from reporters to support her girlfriend of two years, and Clementine's sister (Shepherd-Oppenheim) and her mother (Shepherd).
In her acceptance speech, Shepherd said, “We stand on the shoulders of our elders and I want to thank everyone who’s worked so hard to make this possible. I’m very humbled and I don’t know that I could be more dedicated to this cause, but I could never thank you enough, GLAAD, for your education of me.” Shepherd received a standing ovation following her speech.
Clementine and Linda briefly attended the GLAAD Media Awards after-party before sneaking out of the media spotlight for the evening.
