Cybill Shepherd to Be Honored at the 21st Annual GLAAD Media Awards in San Francisco

Cybill Shepherd will receive the Golden Gate Award at the 21st Annual GLAAD Media Awards presented in San Francisco on June 5, 2010. Daughters Clementine Ford ("The L Word") and recent Yale graduate Ariel Shepherd-Oppenheim will present their mother with the Golden Gate Award. Past Golden Gate Award recipients include: Megan Mullally, Jennifer Beals, Stockard Channing, Jennifer Tilly, James Schamus, and Brooke Shields.

Cybill Shepherd will receive the Golden Gate Award at the 21st Annual GLAAD Media Awards presented in San Francisco on June 5, 2010. Daughters Clementine Ford (The L Word) and recent Yale graduate Ariel Shepherd-Oppenheim will present their mother with the Golden Gate Award. Clementine is an out-actress currently starring on Young & the Restless.

Cybill is receiving the Golden Gate Award for her work in promoting visibility and understanding of the lesbian community.  She recently starred on The L Word opposite Clementine and openly gay Glee star Jane Lynch.

Cybill has made it her work to be an advocate for gay rights, marriage equality and same-sex parental rights and even spoke at the March on Washington in 1993. Past Golden Gate Award recipients include: Megan Mullally, Jennifer Beals, Stockard Channing, Jennifer Tilly, James Schamus, and Brooke Shields.
 
According to the GLAAD official website: "The GLAAD Media Awards elevate and promote fair, accurate and inclusive stories of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) issues, people and allies that have increased awareness, understanding and respect for the lives of LGBT people. The GLAAD Media Awards also fund GLAAD's work to amplify stories of LGBT people and issues that build support for equality."
