'Dexter's' Julie Benz Does 'Desperate Housewives' and a Stripper Pole

Julie Benz is set to pal around with a new set of hotties come February.

The actress, who played Jennifer Carpenter’s sister-in-law on Dexter, and battled the awesome witchy lesbian power that is Alyson Hannigan’s Willow and Sarah Michelle Gellar on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, is set to join the drama and back-stabbing between Teri Hatcher, Felicity Huffman, Eva Longoria Parker and Marcia Cross on ABC’s Desperate Housewives.

Entertainment Weekly reports that the actress known for playing soccer mom Rita Morgan who is unknowingly married to the world’s best serial killer with a conscience is joining the cast of ABC’s Desperate Housewives.

Benz will join the soapy housewives on Wisteria Lane and play Debbie, a smart stripper with a Master’s degree in education.

Benz is set to join the dramedy for at least three episodes, beginning in February, when Teri Hatcher’s Susan offers Debbie the chance to ditch the stripper pole in lieu of a more legitimate career.

Benz, who played Darla the vampire on Joss Whedon’s Buffy the Vampire Slayer and reprised the role on Whedon’sspinoff Angel, most recently was seen [SPOILER ALERT!] taking a blood bath in the jaw-dropping Season 4 finale of Showtime’s Dexter.

Benz also won a Satellite Award in 2006 for her role as Rita, also is up for a Screen Actors Guild award as best ensemble in a drama series for Dexter.

One thing is sure, the actress does get some great parts — vampire, single mom/housewife and now a stripper. And who knows, considering the crazy events that happen on Wisteria Lane, maybe Benz can give Hatcher a lap dance come sweeps.
