How much do we love ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy right now? OK, so the medical drama hasn’t exactly treated the show’s lesbian characters very well in the past — ahem, Erica Hahn — but it sounds like series creator Shonda Rhimes is making up for it.
First, Rhimes treated fans to a quick but literally steamy scene between primetime’s favorite lesbian couple, Callie (Sara Ramirez) and Arizona (Jessica Capshaw).
Second, TV Guide reports that Thursday’s episode will continue to see “Calzona’s” relationship heat up.
Capshaw, in her interview, told TV Guide that “We see a little girl-on-girl action” in this week’s episode that features Callie recovering from a case of the chicken pox.
Extolling the virtues of the lesbian docs, Capshaw continued to describe the couple’s “solid” on-screen relationship: “When they have issues, they communicate. They have fights, but they're there for one another. Clearly it wouldn't be a one-hour drama if there wasn't some conflict around the corner, so I'm sure there will be challenges soon, but right now they're riding the little wave of being happy.”

And as if that’s not enough Grey’s news, TV Guide also reports that out actress Sarah Paulson has been cast on the medical drama as a young version of Meredith Grey’s (Ellen Pompeo) mother, Dr. Ellis Grey, and will be seen in a flashback episode titled Time Warp that is set to air Feb. 18.
Paulson teased to her upcoming stint on Grey’s in SheWired.com’s exclusive interview — conducted by our newest contributor, her sister Rachel!
So while things may look bleak for Alex (Justin Chambers) and Izzie (Katherine Heigl) as well as Christina (Sandra Oh) and Owen (Kevin McKidd), it looks as if Callie and Arizona won’t mind taking over as Seattle Grace Hospital’s newest power couple. Personally, I don’t mind that at all.
Are you excited to see Grey’s Anatomy finally spice up Callie and Arizona’s sex life?
