Writer and director Katherine Brooks, who gave us Loving Annabelle -- an homage to Maedchen in Uniform, about the forbidden student / pedagogue romance -- has announced she’ll begin shooting her next feature The Deacon’s Daughter (working title) in April of this year.
This is great news for Brooks’ fans as it’s been five years since Loving Annabelle was released. But the even better news is that Brooks told SheWired she will star as the deacon’s daughter.
Here is a synopsis for the film:
Set in the alluring city of New Orleans, The Deacon’s Daughter explores a love affair between two women trapped in a world trying to tear them apart.
Desperate to escape her tormented past Katlyn Boyce has dedicated her life to expressing herself through her art. But when she unexpectedly meets Anne, a gifted musician caught in an unfulfilling marriage, the two form an undeniable connection. As their worlds collide the two women must decide what they are willing to sacrifice for a life they never knew existed.
While fans have long awaited Brooks’ next feature she has been busy with several projects including directing Meet the Barkers and The Spin Crowd.
