NBC Picks Up New Lesbian Romantic Comedy from 'Will and Grace' Writer / Producer

Yesterday NBC picked up a half-hour romantic comedy pilot called I Hate That I Love You, which revolves around a lesbian couple. Of course, it could only come from the genius Emmy-winning writer and producer of Will & Grace, Jhoni Marchenko. 

The idea of a lesbian couple being part of a main storyline on network TV is beyond exciting, but the show's logline does seem slightly frightening:

“A straight couple introduces two of its lesbian friends to one another and what results is both instant attraction and a pregnancy."

There are several things potentially nerve-racking about that sentence, but we are going to wait until the show premieres to do any judging. 

The other super exciting tidbit, which AfterEllen pointed out, is that Marchenko is quite friendly with Sarah Paulson and Sandra Bernhard. We are keeping our fingers crossed that one (or both!) of these lovely ladies gets cast as part of the new lesbian duo! 

No matter which ladies end up in I Hate That I Love You, we will definitely be tuning in!
