Eighties-era leading lady Kelly McGillis, who came out as a lesbian in a video interview right here on SheWired last May, is the latest casualty of the vampire craze since she'll be starring in the vamp road movie Stake Land, directed by Jim Mickle.

The film is described on the horror fan site Bloody Disgusting as "a post-apocalyptic vampire story in the style of The Grapes of Wrath." If that isn't enough to get you to watch, Kelly will be tapping into two lesbian fetish subsets by playing a nun in a vampire movie.

"McGillis plays a nun who joins a small team of survivors (including Damici, Danielle Harris of Halloween and Halloween 2 and Conor Paolo of Gossip Girl) as they make a treacherous journey north to safety through the war-torn U.S. McGillis' character, 'Sister,' faces a crisis of faith during the vampire bloodshed, ultimately taking up arms to do battle with her newly formed family unit," the site further explains.

After starring in blockbusters in the eighties including Top Gun and Witness and playing Jodie Foster's attorney in the critically-acclaimed The Accused, McGillis seemed to have all but disappeared from film before appearing in the lesbian-themed 2000 film The Monkey's Mask.

Many fans will recall she played a closeted Colonel prosecuting a "don't ask, don't tell" case on season five of The L Word.

Now that Kelly has joined the vampire fray, perhaps Hollywood will do a little cross-pollinating and she and True Blood's Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) will team up to offer online vampire education seminars...just a thought.
