SheWired's Afternoon Web Crawl for Oct. 15

Here's a smattering of pop culture from around the web! Today's tidbits include the cast of Glee with a taste of Rocky Horror, Helen Mirren, Erica Durance from Smallville, Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar, Neal Patrick Harris and David Burtka as dads, Kristen Chenoweth and Molly Shannon, Hilary Swank, Christina Aguilera and more!

With so much information coming at us on the Internet it's tough to keep up with all of the mostly meaningless but guilty pleasure type of info out there – and some of it is meaningful. Either way, here's a smattering of pop culture from around the web!

Happy Halloween from the Glee cast! It’s not new news that Glee’s latest themed show is a Rocky Horror redux, but audio snippets of Mercedes as the ‘Sweet Transvestite’ Frankenfurter, Kurt as the butler Riff Raff, Rachel as the virginal ingénue Janet and Finn as the hot geek Brad, have hit the Web. The Glee cast’s ‘Rocky’ album drops Oct. 19th, and so far, it sounds fucking spot-on – we’re talking to you Amber Riley!

The superhero driven series Smallville has never been on my radar but these promo photos for the show’s Lois Lane (Erica Durance) transformed into Oh Mighty Isis brought me back to my misspent childhood zoning out to  the Shazam / Isis hour on the Saturday TV line-up. I’m fairly certain it was Isis’ killer chunky jewelry and short dress that had me tuning in. Here’s the opening for that groundbreaking show!

File this under “Uhuh,” but an anonymous source claims that Christina Aguilera and her recently ex hubby Jordan Bratman had an open marriage to allow Christina to sing “Beautiful” in lingerie and alone with the ladies. Well, a source says that it was open secret that Christina was allowed to hook up with women. And the source says they met at West Hollywood’s The Abbey, which I kind of totally believe, because crazy shit goes down at The Abbey. Now, Jezebel has it of good authority – a source – that Christina is filling Lindsay Lohan’s Louboutins and getting close to Samantha Ronson!

The View’s resident lefties – and reasonable co-hosts – Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar stormed off the show Thursday rather than listen to guest Bill O’Reilly’s assertions about 9/11. Joy wasted time on her talk show explaining the walkout, when she really doesn’t need to explain quitting that blowhard mouthpiece for the right. Still…here’s Joy on the walk out.

Cutie Neal Patrick Harris and his partner David Burtka are proud dads to twins! Neil Tweeted, “Babies!! On 10/12, Gideon Scott and Harper Grace entered the Burtka-Harris fold. All of us are happy, healthy, tired, and a little pukey.”

The woman who gave the world Sally O’Malley and Mary Catherine Gallagher, Molly Shannon, has made her debut in Broadway’s Promises / Promises with Kristen Chenoweth and Sean Hayes. And according to Kristen’s Tweet, Molly killed. “Its official: MOLLY SHANNON is a GENIUS! MOLLY is unbelievable.”

Every few years Hilary Swank takes a break from making milquetoast romantic comedies and failed action flicks to star in an Oscar-bait role, and this weekend she’s hitting screens in Conviction as Betty Anne Waters, a working mom who went to law school to help her brother beat a murder rap and won. The film costars the lovely Minnie Driver as her best friend. Here’s Hilary enroute to another Oscar nod.

Also in theaters this weekend – Dame Helen Mirren channels a killer Martha Stewart – Mirren told the NY Times that Stewart was her inspiration – as an ex CIA agent who comes out of retirement to wield a machine gun, which is totally worth the price of admission, in RED. The lightweight action flick, which costars Mary Louise Parker is mostly testosterone heavy with Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman and John Malkovich also playing ex CIA but I’ll buy a ticket just for Mirren with a machine gun!

On the movie-casting front, AfterEllen reports that a film about the lives of Manson’s female followers is in the works.Manson Girls stars Ghost World’s Thora Birch as Sandra Good, Welcome to the Dollhouse and The L Word’s Heather Matarazzo as Sadie Atkins and Loving Annabelle’s Erin Kelly as a character named Summer Sunshine, who may be a fictional character. This sounds like a fascinatingly grim film with a great cast.
