One of our all-time favorite Golden Girls was a guest on James Lipton’s Inside the Actors Studio and we have a few clips to share before the episode airs tomorrow evening!
In this first clip, White recalls the rigors of working on the Saturday Night Live set and how they managed to get her in and out of her costumes in a timely fashion.
Lipton chatted with White about her life-changing role as “Rose Nylund” on The Golden Girls. The character made her a staple in the LGBT community and carved out a comfortable niche for which she is still regarded today. All of the actresses who starred opposite White are now deceased. White is shown getting teary-eyed in the clip below as she remembers her time with Bea Arthur (“Dorothy”), Rue McClanahan (“Blanche”) and Estelle Getty (“Sophia”).

Betty White, Rue McClanahan and Golden Girls writer Marc Cherry were guests at the Paley Center for Media and shared with the audience why they thought the gay community embraced the show as tightly as they did (and, as a side note – still do!).
