During a week that saw the TV Academy nix its plan to award writing and directing Emmys during a pretaped ceremony — which means more Tina Fey in primetime — Elizabeth Mitchell, Jada Pinkett Smith, Deborah Ann Woll and Twilight's Kristen Stewart topline this installment of the Hollywood Trade Roundup, a collection of the week's Hollywood hotties in the headlines from The Hollywood Reporter and Daily Variety.

Sienna Miller and Channing Tatum overpowered Meryl Streep and Amy Adams at the boxoffice last weekend, with G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra collecting $56.2 million vs. Julie & Julia's more modest $20.1 million take.

Fresh off her Twitter announcement that she was leaving Fox's American Idol, Paula Abdul could be heading straight up to the competition and is in talks to join ABC's Dancing With the Stars with the network pursuing her as a contestant.

Tara Reid has been cast as one of the female leads in Last Call, an indie comedy now shooting in Los Angeles that revolves around two cousins who attempt to save their uncle's pub by transforming it into a strip club to a high school speakeasy.

ABC's Elizabeth Mitchell-toplined V remake will premiere Nov. 3, taking over for reality competition show Shark Tank. Mitchell, who famously played Angelina Jolie's girlfriend in Gia, will also resurface on the network's Lost during the drama's final season.

Hot off its campy marketing campaign for its Melrose Place reboot, the CW unveiled an "OMG"-like campaign for the third season of Gossip Girl. The "WTF" campaign — which promos translate to stand for "Watch This Fall" — certainly will keep fans buzzing about the Blake Lively and Leighton Meester teen sudser.

 

Hilary Duff, who last year starred in a public service announcement encouraging youth to avoid using anti-LGBT vocabulary, has signed on the dotted line for The Business of Falling in Love, an ABC Family romantic comedy based on the book Diary of a Working Girl by Daniella Brodsky. Duff will play a fashion reporter, in addition to executive producing the telefilm.

Isabel Lucas is stepping in for Lea Thompson in the upcoming remake of 1984's teen action movie Red Dawn remake. Lucas, who appeared in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, will play the head cheerleader. Red Dawn bows in September 2010.

Damnit, Janet! Characters from the Rocky Horror Picture Show — including the character famously played by Susan Sarandon — are set to become part of the Halloween Horror Nights lineup at Universal Studios Hollywood. The Rocky Horror Picture Show: A Tribute will run daily at the annual event, set for a 16-night run beginning Oct. 2.

Jada Pinkett Smith, who played gay in last year's The Women, is a hit on the small screen. Her freshman medical drama, TNT's Hawthorne, has been picked up for a second season with an order for 10 additional episodes. Smith stars as Christina Hawthorne, a headstrong chief nursing officer. She also exec produces the drama.

 

Twilight led all the winners at the 11th annual Teen Choice Awards, collecting 11 awards, including nods for Kristen Stewart, Ashley Greene and Stewart and Robert Pattinson for best kiss. Megan Fox took home the choice female hottie prize.

Speaking of hotties, True Blood's Deborah Ann Woll (newbie vampire Jessica) has been cast in Mother's Day, the remake of the 1980 cult classic that revolves around three female friends who run into two dangerous brothers while camping.

Turning to the Billboard 200 album charts, country duo Sugarland scores their second No. 1 in a year with Live on the Inside. Taylor Swift jumps up a notch to No. 8 with her Fearless disc. Michael Jackson's Number Ones was the top-selling album last week, selling 98,000 copies.

Looking to the weekend at the boxoffice, Rachel McAdams and Eric Bana star in the romantic comedy The Time Traveler's Wife, which goes up against Peter Jackson's sci-fi invasion District 9. Offering counterprogramming, Lisa Kudrow and Vanessa Hudgens star in the battle of the bands pic Bandslam
