Will and Grace star Sean Hayes has finally put the speculation and rumors to rest in the new issue of
The Advocate. The actor, currently starring on Broadway with Kristin Chenoweth in
Promises Promises, but best know for his eight-season stint as the over-the-top Jack McFarland on
Will and Grace told
The Advocate, "I am who I am. I was never in, as they say. Never."
After more than a decade of speculation about his sexuality, an open secret in Hollywood that has now gone viral, Hayes had never made a formal admission regarding his sexuality until now. He was burned by The Advocate back in the day when then-editors ran a piece of Hayes' quotes mashed together to make him look ridiculous for not officially coming out said in the new interview:
"I feel like I've contributed monumentally to the success of the gay movement in America, and if anyone wants to argue that, I'm open to it. You're welcome, Advocate. Why would you go down that path with somebody who's done so much to contribute to the gay community That was my beef about it. What more do you want me to do? Do you want me to stand on a float? And then what? It's never enough."
