Tinashe Shuts Down J.K. Rowling After Her Latest TERF Comment

It's what she deserves.

J.K. Rowling is at it again. Well, she really never stopped being at it, did she?

The author of the beloved Harry Potter series continued her streak of transphobic rhetoric on Twitter earlier today, setting her sights on Labour Equalities Shadow Minister, Annalise Dodds. According to a singular tweet, Dodds was on BBC's Women Hour and answered a question on "how do you define a woman" with uncertainty in "how adult and female is defined."

The exchange takes place around the 20:00 minute time stamp in the podcast where Dodds says she and Labour party support the inclusion of trans people when speaking about "equality across the board." Then, the host asks for "Labour's definition of a woman." Dodds replies, "there's different definitions legally around what a woman actually is." She skirts around the question, pointing out context is key in each situation, not outwardly agreeing with "trans women are women" but expressing intent to keep them involved in the conversation.

It's unclear if Rowling actually listened to the podcast, but she certainly didn't like the tweet about it. "Someone please send the Shadow Minister for Equalities a dictionary and a backbone. #HappyInternationalWomensDay," Rowling tweeted, followed by a tag of Scottish National party representative, Joanna Cherry. "This is what a woman who owns a dictionary and a backbone looks like."

A quick scroll through Cherry's Twitter reveals anti-trans rhetoric of her own, aligning her beliefs with Rowling's.

Rowling concluded the series of tweets with a nod to her own books. "Apparently, under a Labour government, today will become We Who Must Not Be Named Day," referring to... women.

We guess the Voldermort reference was too much for pop/R&B singer Tinashe, because that's when the "2 On" singer jumped in with, "Oh my god, SHUT UP."

TELL HER TINASHE!

Most of the comments echo her sentiments. One read, "This is a really weird hill to die on." Another read, "You know, you've more money than a lot of people will ever have. You could do what you like - build a scale model of Tower Bridge, train to run a marathon on stilts, create gardens the breadth and scale of a modern Capability Brown. But you're on twitter, doing...this."
