Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin & The Vampire Academy

Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin

Peacock spilled the tea on its upcoming fall schedule and two shows caught our eye. The first is the Pitch Perfect spinoff, Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin will star Adam DeVine, Sarah Hyland, Lera Above, Jameela Jamil, and German actor Flula Borg. In the series, Bumper (DeVine) moves to Germany to revive his music career after one of his songs blows up in that country.

The second series that we can’t wait to take a bite out of is The Vampire Academy. The show is based on the supernatural YA series by Richelle Mead and “follows the students of St. Vladimir’s Academy — a hidden place where vampire royals are educated alongside students descended from Vampires and Humans who train to protect from the savage ‘Strigoi’ vampires who would like to see them destroyed.” It's being helmed by Julie Plec (The Vampire Diaries) alongside Marguerite MacIntyre (The Originals) and is rumored to be very queer.

Glamorous

Zane Phillips and Kim CatrallKim Cattrall (Queer as Folk) and Fire Island hottie Zane Phillips have both signed onto the upcoming LGBTQ+ drama Glamorous. The series “tells the story of Marco Mejia, played by previously announced Miss Benny, a gender-nonconforming queer young man whose life seems to be stuck in place until he lands a job working for legendary makeup mogul Madolyn Addison. It’s Marco’s first chance to figure out what he wants out of life, who he actually is, and what it means for him to be queer,” reports Deadline.

The Witchery

The Witchery

Your summer reads just got witchy, thanks to the debut young adult novel from author S. Isabelle. “The Witchery is a 6-person-POV story that follows four witches and two mundane boys who cross their paths. It’s a thrilling and atmospheric read with an inclusive narrative, a diverse magical school, Black girls front and center, and on-the-page queer characters,” reads the press release.

Password

The teaser trailer for Password, featuring Keke Palmer and Jimmy Fallon is here. “Throughout the series, contestants partner with Fallon and other celebrities to face off in a game of words. There will be eight hour-long episodes, featuring celebrity/contestant duos as they compete for cash prizes using only one-word clues to guess a secret password,” reports Entertainment Weekly

What We Do in the Shadows

What We Do In The Shadows

Kayvan Novak and Harvey Guillén opened up about the special relationship between their characters Nandor and Guillermo to E! News. “He’s got the best relationship he will probably ever experience under his nose, and that’s his relationship with Guillermo,” Novak told E! “He’s sniffing around in all the wrong places.”Guillén is a little more hopeful for the two.

“They will always have love for each other, to the point where they’re in each other’s lives,” he said. “They’re intertwined.”

“Sometimes you can love somebody and be in their lives, but it doesn’t mean you have to put a ring on it,” Guillén said. “Love looks different for everybody.”

What We Do In The Shadows returns July 12 on FX.

Monster High

The Monster High: The Movie trailer is here and queer. Per the logline, the film “follows Clawdeen Wolf (Miia Harris), born half human and half werewolf, after arriving at her new school, Monster High. She quickly makes friends with her classmates Frankie Stein (Ceci Balagot) and Draculaura (Nayah Damasen), and for the first time in her life, Clawdeen feels like she has finally found a place where she fits in and can truly be herself, despite keeping her human half a secret. When a devious plan to destroy Monster High threatens to reveal her real identity, Clawdeen must learn to embrace her true monster heart and find a way to save the day.”

Conjuring Kesha Kesha stopped by Late Night with Seth Meyers to talk about her new ghost-hunting series Conjuring Kesha. The “Timber” singer also told a creepy story about Whitney Cummings’ supernatural experience during filming. “I took her to a haunted prison in the middle of the Tennessee mountains,” Kesha told host Seth Meyers, noting that they were accompanied by a demonologist. “[Cummings is] upstairs having this beautiful moment, crying — she believes that she’s connected and is having a full conversation with a trans ghost, which may be true.”

Conjuring Kesha premieres on July 8 on Discovery+.

Thor: Love and Thunder

Thor Love and Thunder

Thor: Love and Thunder star Tessa Thompson confirmed that her character Valkyrie’s sexuality is a big topic of conversation in the film. “Because I think rightfully there’s this real want in audiences to see characters be very clearly queer or LGBTQIA inside these spaces. And I think it’s hugely important to have representation,” Thompson, who’s bisexual, told Yahoo! Entertainment.

“It becomes the only storyline, particularly in a movie like this where you don’t, frankly, have a lot of room for storyline,” Thompson says. “So there was a lot of conversation in terms of how to treat that with Valkyrie. And I feel really good, personally, about where we got to. I hope that she’s a character that fans continue to connect to, that we have a lot of time to explore her, in all of her humanity. But whether or not she finds love in this movie doesn’t mean she’s not still a fabulous queer character that is open to finding love when it makes sense.”

Thor: Love and Thunder opens Friday, July 8.

Barbie

David Bowie Barbie

Mattel is releasing an androgynous David Bowe-inspired Barbie doll. “David Bowie was a one-man cultural phenomenon for his contributions to music, art, fashion, and film. Our second tribute doll celebrates the 50th anniversary of his classic Hunky Dory, the iconic ‘Life on Mars?’ video, and an outfit forever associated with this ultimate pop chameleon,” reads Mattel’s website. “This Barbie doll models an authentic replica of the bespoke powder-blue suit Bowie wore in the ‘Life on Mars?’ music video, including a foil-printed pin-stripe shirt, statement tie, and platform shoes. Her hairstyle and bold blue eyeshadow are inspired by Bowie’s ‘70s glam era look.”

Thanos’s Butt

Paul Rudd finally addresses the question that has been plaguing us all (what, just me?) since Avengers: End Game. Why didn't he just shrink and crawl up Thanos’s butt to kill him (The Boys-style)?

In a video featuring Rudd as his character Scott Lang a.k.a. Ant-Man and Hope van Dyne a.k.a. The Wasp (Evangeline Lilly) which played on the Disney Wish cruise ship, Rudd starts to launch into an explanation.

“I’ve heard a lot of chatter out there asking why I didn’t shrink down, go in, and uh... kill Thanos in a really creative way,” Rudd says in the video shared on social media by an attendee who previewed the cruise ship. “First of all: gross. Secondly, it’s much more complicated than that. Allow me to explain — “

“If only we had the time!” Hope cuts in.

Beyonce’s New Album Art

Queen Bey released the art for her new album Renaissance on Instagram and we are shaking. “Creating this album allowed me a place to dream and to find escape during a scary time for the world. It allowed me to feel free and adventurous in a time when little else was moving. My intention was to create a safe place, a place without judgment. A place to be free of perfectionism and overthinking. A place to scream, release, feel freedom. It was a beautiful journey of exploration. I hope you find joy in this music. I hope it inspires you to release the wiggle. Ha! And to feel as unique, strong, and sexy as you are,” she wrote in the caption.

Strangers Sounds Like Our New Gay Movie Obsession

Andrew Scott and Paul Mescal

Weekend and Looking creator Andrew Haigh is at it again, this time with the film Strangers starring Andrew Scott (Fleabag) and Paul Mescal (Normal People). “Strangers follows screenwriter Adam (Scott) who, one night in his near-empty tower block in contemporary London, has a chance encounter with his mysterious neighbor Harry (Mescal) that punctures the rhythm of his everyday life. As Adam and Harry get closer, Adam is pulled back to his childhood home where he discovers that his long-dead parents are both living and look the same age as the day they died over 30 years ago,” reports Variety
