Harry Styles is one of the biggest names in the world after years working with One Direction, starting his solo career, and recently jumping headfirst into acting as well. But we can never forget where he got his start as a 16-year-old, in front of the whole world — The X Factor.

The long-running reality show, which came to an end in 2018, shared a throwback video over the weekend featuring never-before-seen footage from Styles’ original audition.

When the “Watermelon Sugar” singer first appeared on our screens back in 2010, we only saw him perform an a cappella rendition of Stevie Wonder’s “Isn’t She Lovely,” earning a vote of confidence from both Simon Cowell and Cheryl Cole.

But it turns out Styles originally auditioned with Train’s “Hey, Soul Sister.” It didn’t go so well, and the teen was asked to try something without a backing track.

The extended clip also features more of Styles talking about his job at a bakery, his plans for the future (boy did that ever change), and how his mom had always told him he was a good singer.

“I wanted to come and ask from the people who know,” he told Cowell. “I think I could do it, but I think with your help I could be a lot better than I am.”

The update on baby aspiring artist Harry Styles comes as current super popular artist Harry Styles is making exciting strides in his career. In addition to having two movies out soon, fans already anticipating his next appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, after he briefly appeared in The Eternals’ post-credit scene as Eros aka Starfox, Thanos’ brother.

“The adventures of Eros and Pip is something that is very exciting for us,” head of Marvel Studios Kevin Feige said at San Diego Comic Con. “And you talk about Ghost Rider, we've got Blade, we've got — with Doctor Strange, we're at the supernatural angles, we've got the street level with our announcement of Daredevil and of course Spidey going into the street level heroes, and cosmic — and that's where our friends Eros and Pip live."

When exactly we’ll get more of Styles in the MCU remains to be seen — another Eternals film isn’t happening in the next phase of Marvel films, but it’s always possible they could find a way to work him into a different story. The important thing is that he’s coming back.
