Connor Wren is the cutie to add to your playlist.
The handsome singer is proudly showcasing his queerness in his new music, which has proven to be a very healing experience. After graduating from a Baptist college, Wren finally came out at 24 and started loving the skin he's in.
Now, the star is channeling all of his growth into his artistry with his debut album Second Adolescence. The record taps into the queer joy that came with Wren living his life more authentically as a gay man.
"I'm having a blast making this music and telling my story that I have been holding on to for so many years. I'm finally just letting it out! Growing up as a closeted queer kid, I can now look back on it and reclaim some of those experiences. I've been on this journey for ten years. I had to embrace myself for who I am," Wren tells Out.
Wren's story will certainly resonate with many other queer people who grew up in religious environments. The singer acknowledges that his coming out was a very difficult time of his life, but opened the door for him to finally live life on his own terms.
"I had a huge social change within my life. I was very much in the conservative church world. They were not ready for me. I had to start over completely, both professionally and personally. It was tough, but I'm grateful for the journey because it made me who I am."
The journey hasn't been easy, but Wren is surrounding himself with nothing but love in all aspects of his life. The performer is using his inspirations from Disney and other key sources of queer joy in his personal and professional endeavors.
"As an adult now, I'm always pursuing joy and laughter. We're going to talk about the hurt and the trauma, but in essence of it, I want it to be fun and joyful. I've been performing for Disney since I was in college. We love the Disney gays! I wear it proudly. Life is too short to run from things you love."
