They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery … sometimes.
Special Assistant to the President Natalie Harp has become the subject of intense media scrutiny in the past few weeks given her uniquely devoted relationship with Donald Trump. Several of Harp’s letters to the president, which were excerpted by the New York Times in 2024, were recently published in full by The Daily Beast, exposing the depth of her sycophancy to the Commander-in-Chief.
“I miss when you used to call during my Talkshow days, and we’d talk about everything and nothing,” Harp, a former One America News Network host, reportedly wrote in one of the letters, which have not yet been fully verified. “I need to reunite my past self with my current into a better version who will make you proud. And please, when I fail, will you tell me?”
In the same letter, she wrote, “You have the absolute right to cuss me out, if need be, when I deserve it, because no one knows or cares about me more.” She continued, “It is I who is unworthy.”
In one missive, Harp even referred toTrump as her “Guardian and Protector in this life,” complete with the cult-like capitalization. Harp has previously credited Trump with saving her life due to the “Right to Try” law he signed in 2018, which she says opened up more options for her treatment for stage 2 bone cancer. (Snopes has not been able to independently verify that Harp ever had bone cancer and has pointed to some inconsistencies in her description of the timeline of her diagnosis and the treatments she says she underwent.)
Of course, it is not just her words, but her actions that have gained her widespread coverage. She reportedly rode in the trunk of an SUV when there wasn’t room in Trump’s motorcade out of a seeming desire to be close to him. Her tweets praising him go back for years, including many that were issued on and around the January 6 insurrection. And, notably, world leaders looking to get a direct line to Trump reportedly text her if they want to get Donald on the line.
Of course, when it comes to the performance of this kind of devotion, who else could really nail Natalie Harp other than a drag queen? Now, when we say “do Natalie Harp,” the possibilities are endless. It could mean queens we think would excel at doing a number as Natalie Harp, queens who could perhaps play her in a Lifetime Original Movie or, given how LGBTQ-friendly they are, maybe even a Tubi Original!
Here are some suggestions for who should pick up the blonde wig, put on the pearl earrings and express their devotion on stage or screen.
Marcia Marcia Marcia
Already an acting powerhouse who has starred in the Cabaret revival on Broadway and Stop! That! Train!, Drag Race season 15 queen Marcia Marcia Marcia seems like a natural fit to throw their hat in the ring to play Harp. Not only do they already possess a certain sweetness in drag, their performance in Train! as mean girl Alli also showed a cutting quality that could be useful in embodying Harp’s intensity.

Plasma
Season 16’s BFA queen would like a word as well. While maybe not exactly the type to play Natalie Harp, we know from Plasma’s repertoire that she could kill most roles that come her way. And, of course, this could be an excuse to perform one of Barbra’s most beloved tracks.
Suggested song: What else? Barbra Streisand’s “People”
Katya
If you’re looking for someone at the intersection of blonde hair and unhinged, perhaps no one fits the bill to play Harp better than Katya, the season 7 and All Stars 2 queen who has made her kitschy, off-kilter humor her signature asset. No one better embodies glamor mixed with slowly simmering rage — the essence of almost any GOP woman, but most especially one willing to stuff herself into a trunk just to be near Trump.
Suggested song: Harp is, much like Bonnie Tyler, “Holding Out for a Hero.” (Her hero is Trump, if that wasn’t clear.)
Kori King
The Queen of Cameo has arrived. If you follow Kori King, who first came to prominence on season 17 of RuPaul’s Drag Race, then you know that she's continued to achieve viral fame by embodying a long list of iconic characters, including The Lorax, Shrek, JoJo Siwa, Michael Jackson and her fellow season 17 contestant Suzie Toot. There’s no world where King doesn’t devour the role of Natalie Harp.
Suggested song: After having previously defeated Joella to “Buttons” by the Pussycat Dolls, it would be great to see her reprise this song as a lusty Harp.
Darlene Mitchell
While Darlene’s drag usually comes a bit more down-home and big-haired than Harp, something tells us that she’d embody the executive assistant like no other. Her performances in challenges and her ability to embody a certain type of woman suggest that nailing Harp’s obsession with being Trump’s “higher purpose bride” would be firmly in her wheelhouse.
Suggested song: Something tells me we need a Dolly number here and, given the depths of Harp’s love, how about Dolly Parton’s “I Will Always Love You”?
Sami Landri
If you’ve looked into Sami Landri’s (highly FaceTuned) eyes on her IG, then you know that there’s a quality in her that can bring out Harp’s particular quirks better than anyone else. Much like Darlene Mitchell, Landri is usually known for playing a less buttoned-up, more folksy woman. But Landri is also a chameleon who has been able to embody the GOP woman archetype with aplomb, as her impression of Marjorie Taylor Greene in season 6 Snatch Game proved.
Suggested song: Landri could play her in a TV movie, so no song really necessary, but if we’re keeping it Canadian, how about Avril Lavigne’s “Girlfriend” with images of Melania projected behind her?
