As she prepares to compete for another gold medal, U.S. Olympic hockey star Hilary Knight has proposed to fellow U.S. Olympian, speed skater Brittany Bowe.
Both are athletes on Team U.S.A. at the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics this year. They are one of at least five queer couples competing this year. Knight shared a video on Instagram of her proposing to Bowe. In the video, the two athletes are seen in Italy, where Knight drops to one knee; after Bowe nods, Knight gives her a ring. The video also shows Bowe showing off the ring while Knight lifts her in the air.
"Olympics brought us together," Knight wrote. "This one made us forever."
Several fellow Olympians and athletes congratulated Knight and Bowe on the post.
"OMGGGG I WANT TO FLIP TABLES I WANT TO SCREAM I WANT TO CRY," wrote former figure skater Adam Rippon. "I am also OBSESSED with how gay it is to propose in sweats. I LOVE YOU GIRLS!"
"Ahhhhhhh yayayay! Happy days," Olympic bronze medalist and rugby star Ilona Maher wrote.
"Congratulations from both of us!" wrote tennis legend Billie Jean King, referencing her and her wife, another former tennis pro, Ilana Kloss. Knight and Team U.S.A. are preparing for the gold medal game against Canada in hockey tomorrow. Knight previously won three silver medals and one gold.
Bowe previously won two bronze medals in speed skating, one in 2018 in PyeongChang and one in 2022 in Beijing. This year, she finished 4th in the 1,000-meter race and has the 1,500-meter race on Friday.
Both athletes have said this will be their final Olympics, per AP News.
