Marta Vieira da Silva — best known mononymously as Marta — got married to fellow women's soccer player Carrie Lawrence on Friday, January 2.
The ceremony took place in Florida, where Marta has been living since she was transferred to playing for Orlando Pride in 2017. Lawrence, who was born in Orlando, had a soccer career that included playing for the UFC Knights and Orlando Pride.
"I had the honor [to plan] Marta's wedding, Brazil's iconic No. 10," wedding planner Janine Closs wrote in a statement shared with CNN Brasil. "Every detail was planned with love, sensitivity, and intention, transforming this day into a truly unique and unforgettable experience."
A pretty iconic way to kick off 2026, if you ask us!
Marta wore a blazer, trousers, and hat for the wedding ceremony.
Meanwhile, Lawrence wore a white dress with lace details.
Marta and Lawrence, who both played for Orlando Pride, started dating in 2022. Following the silver medal won by Brazil's women's soccer team in the Paris 2024 Olympics, Marta shared with the public that she was engaged to Lawrence.
Even though Lawrence officially retired from sports in November 2024, Marta is still an active player for Orlando Pride in the NSWL. The all-time soccer superstar turns 40 next month, but she's still kicking ass in soccer and doesn't seem to be planning on slowing down anytime soon.
We love love! Congratulations to the newlyweds.
