Watch This Drag Queen Perform 'Baby Shark' for Little Kid at Brunch
If you’ve ever been under the impression that drag queen brunches aren’t for the whole family, you were so wrong.
NYC-based drag performer Marti Gould Cummings has been hosting a drag brunch in Jersey City for awhile now.
“But Saturday we decided to do a ‘drag roulette,’ where the audience picks a bunch of songs for us to perform at random,” Cummings said.
A two-year-old boy had been in the audience, watching with rapt attention, and the performer knew he deserved a chance to get involved.
“I asked the little boy what he wanted to see performed…and he asked for ‘Baby Shark,’” Cummings recalled. “The DJ quickly found the song online, and we added it to the playlist for him.”
Cummings shared a clip of the video on Twitter, showing the toddler clapping along happily as the drag queen performed so specifically for him, and it quickly went viral.

The majority of responses were overwhelmingly positive, with parents all over the internet saying they wanted to bring their children to drag brunch now, and people without kids appreciating the effort Cummings put in to making the little boy feel so welcomed.
But of course some people just don’t like fun, and complained that it’s inappropriate for children to go to a drag brunch, prompting the drag queen to post a response on Twitter this morning:
“A message to all the negative commentary regarding a 20 second drag video with a kid who was having a blast —- makes me sad people can turn such joy into hate”— Marti (@Marti) 1553002153
But regardless of any hater efforts, it’s clear the video spread far more joy than hate, and we’ll always stan a queen who stands for positivity.
“Anyone who thinks drag isn’t for children is wrong,” Cummings told NBC News. “Drag is expression, and children are such judgment-free beings; they don’t really care what you’re wearing, just what you’re performing.”
