Hannah Einbinder is the name on everyone's lips!
The bisexual actress and comedian cemented herself in Hollywood after starring alongside Jean Smart in the critically acclaimed hit series Hacks for 5 seasons.
Hacks reached unprecedented levels of success as the popular show earned 24 Emmy nominations in a single year for their fifth and final season. Both Smart and Einbinder won Emmy Awards for their respective roles, with Smart winning entirely undefeated for years.
Besides the global success, the show featured prominent bisexual representation in relatable LGBTQ+ storylines, which Einbinder delivered flawlessly. Since then, the actress is committed to telling more vital queer stories in her major upcoming projects.
Now, she's starring alongside another Hollywood veteran, Gillian Anderson, in the new dark comedy movie Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma. The slasher film features plenty of sapphic sex scenes and Einbinder is thrilled to bring that type of queer visibility to the big screen.
"It's my honor to serve! For a lot of sapphic folks out there, so much of the media that we have and that we claim is based on finding characters that are queer-coded, but not explicitly queer. This is an instance where these are explicitly queer characters. This an explicitly queer sapphic love story. It is important to have representation is explicit," Einbinder tells Out.
Gillian Anderson is also celebrating 40 years in the entertainment industry by teaming up with Einbinder in the new film. The revered actress has been considered a sex symbol and gay icon throughout her career, so she was thrilled to tap into her all of her skills in Camp Miasma.
"A lot of the topics addressed in this film are toxic I've addressed outside of acting and inside some of the roles that I've played. It made sense that I'd jump into the project. I understood that it was the next chapter, not just as me as a person, but as an actor. I feel very lucky that it fell into my lap. It's really wonderful to be part of something where it all comes together," Anderson says.
Einbinder's success directly correlates with her ability to portray characters who are deeply relatable to many in the LGBTQ+ community. She hopes her authenticity on screen can inspire more queer people to live their lives more unapologetically.
"It's just the biggest honor I can ever imagine. I know the people who were that for me in media and television. That's why we love what we do. We're fans first and we get to experience that first, so to pay that forward in a way is just an honor," Einbinder says.
